Interview with Vesa Parkkari – Embajador de la Bachata
[/two-third]Vesa Parkarri, originally from Finland, known more as DJ Dominicano Rubio, Bachata Ambassador, in spanish: el Embajador de la Bachata, is the main promoter of Bachata in Finland. He started the first Bachata Festival in that country and holds 1-2 festivals a year. Last year he also launched his first Dominican Bachata Festival, bringing dancers from all over the world, from more than 20 countries to experience bachata in the country that created it, with dominican instructors. Truly a unique experience.
Vesa with a great passion for dancing, has been sharing his love for Bachata since the 90’s and has travelled many times to DR to learn more about Bachata, its history, its roots and its different styles. In this interview he shares with us his knowledge and experience of all the years he has been studying this dance in DR and out of DR, and also gives us insights on his vision of the elements that conform Bachata and how it is lived in and out of the Dominican Republic. He has appeared in many TV shows, magazines and newspapers in the DR, due to all his work in spreading Bachata in Finland and around the world now, and it was there that he earned his name of El Embajador de la Bachata.
